Belgium sits at the top of Ozaukee County, a mile from Lake Michigan, with thirty paved miles of rail trail running straight through the middle of it. Most people drive past on the way to somewhere else. Here is what they miss.

Harrington Beach State Park

A mile past the village line: Lake Michigan shoreline, a quarry lake left behind by the stone company that used to work here, hiking, camping and an observatory that opens after dark. The Friends group runs events through the year.

The Ozaukee Interurban Trail

Thirty paved miles on the bed of the old electric railway, free to ride, running north to south through the village. Park near Main Street and go either direction.
